Opening Prayer: Almighty God, You have always called me to Yourself, and always wanted to call me Your child. Help me to understand Your loving embrace, and to walk in the light of it today. Amen.
Read: Luke 15:8-10
Reflect: Who is the hero of the parable? How does it make you feel to read about the celebration in heaven after one sinner who repents? How does it inform your understanding of God’s work to build a relationship with you to read about the woman turning on the lights and sweeping the house?
Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.
Hymn: “O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus”
O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free,
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me.
Underneath me all around me,
Is the current of Thy love;
Leading onward, leading homeward
To my glorious rest above.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Spread His praise form shore to shore!
How He loveth, ever loveth,
Changeth never, nevermore;
How He watches o’er His loved ones,
Died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth,
Watcheth, o’er them from the throne.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Love of every love the best!
‘Tis an ocean vast of blessing;
‘Tis a haven sweet of rest.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus-
‘Tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,
For it lifts me up to Thee.
Closing Prayer: You have been reminded that Jesus Christ is your Lord and that you are God’s servant. You are loved; you are forgiven; you are empowered and now you are sent to live as God’s faithful one. Amen.
