Reflect: What was the purpose of Elijah’s showdown with the prophets of Baal? How did Elijah have the power to order the people to execute the prophets of Baal after the showdown? Why do you think Elijah sat with his head between his legs waiting for the rain to come? Why did Elijah run so quickly ahead of Ahab?

O Thou in whose presence my soul takes delight,

My Comforter by day and my Song in the night,

Where dost Thou, dear Shepherd, resort with Thy sheep,
