Opening Prayer: Almighty God, You know the desires of my heart and you know how I will experience the most joy and peace in my life. Help me to learn to depend on you for all I need and want. Amen.

Reflect: What did James and John expect from their request to sit on Jesus’ left and right hands in the Kingdom? How does Jesus’ response reveal a more accurate picture of greatness in God’s economy? Is greatness something we should aspire to in the kingdom? What are you doing to become great in the kingdom?
