Opening Prayer: Almighty God, teach me Your truth as I open Your Word today. Speak clearly to my heart, so I can do Your will. Amen.
Read: Jeremiah 8:14-22
Reflect: I will be preaching from this passage on Sunday, please pray that the Lord will speak through these words from the prophet. Read the passage carefully and determine who is speaking in each verse. Why are the people so upset? What could possibly make them better?
Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.
Hymn: “Sent Forth by God’s Blessing”
Sent forth by God’s blessing,
Our true faith confessing,
The people of God from His dwelling take leave.
The service is ended;
O now be extended
The fruits of our worship in all who believe.
The seed of His teaching,
Receptive souls reaching,
Shall blossom in action for God and for all.
His grace did invite us;
His love shall unite us
To work for God’s kingdom and answer His call.
With praise and thanksgiving
To God ever-living,
The task of our everyday life we will face,
Our faith ever sharing,
In love ever-caring,
Embracing His children of each tribe and race.
With Your feast You feed us;
With Your light now lead us.
Unite us as one in this life that we share.
Then may all the living
With praise and thanksgiving
Give honor to Christ and His name that we bear.
Closing Prayer: Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7 (NASB)
