Opening Prayer: Almighty God, You have spoken to Your church, please speak to my spirit as I study Your Word today. Amen.
Read: Revelation 3:1-6
Reflect: What do you think Jesus means when he says he has not found the deeds of the Christians in Sardis complete or fulfilling in v. 2? What encouragement does Jesus give those who have not done everything he expects? What does it mean that some had not soiled their garments? What do the divisions in the church say about the role of community in the church?
Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.
Hymn: “Lo, He Comes with Clouds Descending”
Lo, He comes with clouds descending,
Once for favored sinners slain;
Thousand thousand saints attending
Swell the triumph of His train.
God appears on earth to reign.
Every eye shall now behold Him,
Robed in dreadful majesty!
Those who set at naught and sold Him,
Pierced, and nailed Him to the tree,
Deeply wailing, deeply wailing,
Shall the true Messiah see.
Now the Savior, long expected,
See in solemn pomp appear.
All His saints by man rejected,
Now shall meet Him in the air.
See the day of God appear.
Yes, amen! Let all adore thee,
High on Thine eternal throne;
Savior, take the power and glory,
Claim the kingdom for Thine own.
O come quickly! O come quickly!
Everlasting God, come down!
Closing Prayer: “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and we were created.” (Rev. 4:11 NASB)
