Opening Prayer: Almighty God, You have spoken to Your church, please speak to my spirit as I study Your Word today. Amen.
Read: Revelation 2:12-17
Reflect: What do you think it means to hold to the teaching of Balaam (see Numbers 22-23 and 31:13-24 for some background on Balaam)? What are the Christians in Pergamum supposed to do in response to their sin? Why do you think Jesus offers manna and a white stone to those who overcome?
Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.
Hymn: “Lo, He Comes with Clouds Descending”
Lo, He comes with clouds descending,
Once for favored sinners slain;
Thousand thousand saints attending
Swell the triumph of His train.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
God appears on earth to reign.
Every eye shall now behold Him,
Robed in dreadful majesty!
Those who set at naught and sold Him,
Pierced, and nailed Him to the tree,
Deeply wailing, deeply wailing,
Shall the true Messiah see.
Now the Savior, long expected,
See in solemn pomp appear.
All His saints by man rejected,
Now shall meet Him in the air.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
See the day of God appear.
Yes, amen! Let all adore thee,
High on Thine eternal throne;
Savior, take the power and glory,
Claim the kingdom for Thine own.
O come quickly! O come quickly!
Everlasting God, come down!
Closing Prayer: “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and we were created.” (Rev. 4:11 NASB)
