Opening Prayer: Almighty God, make me one who serves You by serving those around me. Shape me as I study the calls to service in Your Word. Amen.

Read: John 13:5-20
Reflect: Why was it difficult for Peter to have his feet washed by Jesus? What acts of service in our culture would be similar to washing feet? What social boundaries keep us from serving others, or what types of relationships give us opportunities to avoid serving others (Jesus indicated that because he was teacher, he did not need to wash feet, but he did anyway)?

Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself

Hymn: May the Mid of Christ, My Savior
May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and power controlling
All I do and say.

May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His power.

May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go.

May His beauty rest upon me
As I seek the lost to win;
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.

Closing Prayer: Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:12 ESV)
