Opening Prayer: Almighty God, help me to remember that I am here to worship and follow Your son. Give me the strength I need to be the best disciple I can be. Amen.
Read: Matthew 18:21-35
Reflect: What is your initial response to the servant who demands that his fellow servant pay him back? Why do you think it is so natural for humans to be unforgiving? What consequences does Jesus say there will be for those who aren’t able to forgive in this life?
Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.
Hymn: “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go”
O Love that will not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in Thee.
I give Thee back the life I owe,
That in Thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.
O Light that follow’st all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to Thee.
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in Thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.
O Joy that sleekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to Thee.
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain
That morn shall tearless be.
O cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee.
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.
Closing Prayer: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 2 Cor. 1:3-4
