Opening Prayer: Almighty God, You have spoken through Your Word about the peace I can have by simply following You. Remind me this week of the peace You offer. Amen.
Read: Job 21
Reflect: In this chapter Job expresses his frustration at the empty clichés people sometime use to explain why the righteous suffer. What evidence does Job give that the wicked go unpunished? Is Job right? Why does God allow these things to happen?
Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself
Hymn: “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”
Precious Lord, take my hand,
Lead me on, help me stand,
I am tired, I am week, I am worn.
Through the storm, through the night,
Lead me on to the light.
Take my hand, precious Lord; lead me home.
When my way grows drear,
Precious Lord, linger near-
When my life is almost gone.
Hear my cry, hear my call,
Hold my hand lest I fall.
Take my hand, precious Lord; lead me home.
When darkness appears
And the night draws near,
And the day is past and gone,
At the river I stand;
Guide my feet, hold my hand.
Take my hand, precious Lord; lead me home.
Closing Prayer: Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5).
