Opening Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, You give strength to me when I need it. Remind me this week of Your unfailing love, and steady hand, as I continue to prepare for Easter. Amen.
Read: Matthew 6:1-15
Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself
Hymn: “Arise, My Soul, Arise”
Arise, my soul. Arise.
Shake off thy guilty fears.
The bleeding Sacrifice
In my behalf appears.
Before the throne my surety stands;
My name is written on his hands.
He ever lives above
For me to intercede,
His all redeeming love,
His precious blood to plead.
His blood atone for all our race,
An sprinkles now the throne of grace.
Five bleeding wounds He bears,
Received on Calvary.
Thy pour effectual prayers;
They strongly plead for me.
“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry.
“Nor let that ransomed sinner die.”
My God is reconciled;
His pardoning voice I hear.
He owns me for His child;
I can no longer fear.
With confidence I now draw nigh,
And, “Father, Abba Father,” cry.
Closing Prayer: “Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen” (2 Thess. 3:16, 18)
