Opening Prayer:
My ever-speaking Heavenly Father, attune my ears to hear your voice today, that I may respond to your grace as I journey toward the cross with Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
Read: Genesis 12:1-8
Reflect: How does Abram respond to God in this passage? Has God ever called you away from your home and family, what was your response? How is God’s grace shown in this passage?
Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself
Hymn: “Grace that is Greater than all our Sin”
Verse 1
Marvelous grace of our loving Lord, Grace that exceeds our
sin and our guilt, Yonder on Calvary’s mount out poured,
there where the blood of the Lamb was spilt!
Refrain
Grace, grace, God’s grace, grace that will pardon and cleanse within!
Grace, grace, God’s grace, grace that is greater than all our sin!
Verse 2
Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold, threaten the soul with
infinite loss. Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold,
points to the refuge, the mighty cross.
Verse 3
Dark is the stain that we cannot hide. What can avail to
wash it away? Look! There is flowing a crimson tide;
whiter than snow you may be today.
Verse 4
Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace, freely bestowed on
all who believe! You that are longing to see His face,
will you this moment His grace receive?
Benediction:
Almighty God, walk with me all this day as I seek to know your grace in the inmost parts of my life. Amen.
