Pastor Paul and Alyssa at the 2008 Sunrise Service

Hi, I’m Paul Clark, I am the pastor of Connell Church of the Nazarene.  My wife, Alyssa, and I have been here since February 2008.  We moved to Connell from Wilmore, Kentucky, where I was a student at Asbury Theological Seminary.  I hope to be a mission minded pastor, I am encouraging our congregation to reach out into our community in ways that let people know that we care for them.

We would love to have you join us for Sunday morning worship at 10:45, Sunday School at 9:30 or at one of our small groups through the week.  When you join us, come expecting to have a real encounter with the living God.  Worshiping God is not safe or predictable, but it’s worth your time.

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, send your Holy Spirit upon us so that we may perfectly love you and faithfully follow you today and always. In the name of the spirit of Christ. Amen.

Read: Psalm 107

Read: Romans 8:1-17

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Hymn: “Spirit of God, Descend upon My Heart”
Spirit of God, descend upon my heart;
Wean it from earth;
Though all its pulses move;
Stoop to my weakness,
Mighty as thou art,
And make me love thee as I ought to love.

I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies,
No sudden rending of the veil of clay,
No angel visitant, no opening skies;
But take the dimness of my soul away.

Hast thou not bid me love thee, God and King?
All, all thine own, soul, heart and strength and mind.
I see thy cross;
There teach my heart to cling:
O let me seek thee, and O let me find!

Teach me to feel that thou art always nigh;
Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear,
To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh;
Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.

Teach me to love thee as thine angels love,
One holy passion filling all my frame
The kindling of the heaven-descended Dove,
My heart an altar, and thy love the flame. Amen

Closing Prayer: Be filled with hope, joy, and peace by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
