Opening Prayer: Almighty God, help me as I respond to Your grace today to walk in Your presence. Amen.

Read: 2 Peter 1:1-11
Reflect:
How can Christians be made partakers of the divine nature? What does it look like to practice the qualities that God has made a part of our lives? Why should we live in these qualities that the Lord allows us to experience?

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Hymn: “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”
Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace.
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of God’s unchanging love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer;
Hither by Thy help I’m come.
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God.
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let that grace, now like a fetter,
Bind my yielded heart to Thee.
Let me know Thee in Thy fullness;
Guide me by Thy mighty hand
Till, transformed, in Thine own image,
In thy presence I shall stand.

Closing Prayer: Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Amen.

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, help me as I respond to Your grace today to walk in Your presence. Amen.

Read: 1 Peter 1:1-25
Reflect:
Why does Peter say trials are necessary? What does it mean to be holy as the Lord is holy? Why does Peter speak to the temporary nature of human life?  What does Peter believe comes from an accurate understanding of trials, and of God?

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Hymn: “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”
Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace.
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,

Wednesday, October 21

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, help me as I respond to Your grace today to walk in Your presence. Amen.

Read: Ephesians 3:14-21
Reflect:
What will the Ephesians understand if Paul’s prayer is answered? Why do the Ephesians need a prayer of Paul’s answered in order to understand the vastness of the love of Christ? How would it change us if we were able to understand the vastness of the Lord’s love?

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Hymn: “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”

Tuesday, October 20

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, help me as I respond to Your grace today to walk in Your presence. Amen.

Read: Ephesians 1:15-23
Reflect:
Why does Paul pray for the eyes of the Ephesians to be opened? What will they know when their eyes are open? In what ways have all things been put in subjection to Jesus? Why do we go through times when it is difficult to see things as being under Jesus’ feet?

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Hymn: “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, help me as I respond to Your grace today to walk in Your presence. Amen.

Read: 2 Corinthians 4:7-18
Reflect: What light and momentary afflictions have you faced? Did you think they were light and momentary at the time? How did you deal with the difficulties you faced in the past?

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Hymn: “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”
