Opening Prayer: Almighty God, Help me to be loved by You. There are so many things that distract me from sensing Your love, please wash those things away this week. Amen.

Read: Psalm 51
Reflect:
How is God’s love displayed in this Psalm? Is there more fear of judgment or expectation of grace in this Psalm?

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Hymn: “There’s a Wilderness in God’s Mercy”
There’s a wilderness in God’s mercy
Like the wideness of the sea;
There’s a kindness in His justice
Which is more than liberty.

There is welcome for the sinner,
And more graces for the good.
There is mercy with the Savior;
There is healing in His blood.

For the love of God is broader
Than the measure of man’s mind;
And the heart of the Eternal
Is most wonderfully kind.

If our love were more simple,
We should take Him at His word;
And our lives would be illuminated
By the presence of our Lord.

Closing Prayer: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. (2 Cor. 13:14)

Tuesday, September 29

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, Help me to be loved by You. There are so many things that distract me from sensing Your love, please wash those things away this week. Amen.

Read: 2 Samuel 12:1-25
Reflect:
What was David’s reaction to Bathsheba’s child falling ill? What was David’s reaction to the child dieing.? How did the people expect David to react to the death of the child? Why did David name Bathsheba’s second son Solomon?

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Monday, September 28

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, Help me to be loved by You. There are so many things that distract me from sensing Your love, please wash those things away this week. Amen.

Read: 2 Samuel 11:1-27
Reflect: What caused David to make the decisions he does in this passage? Do you think David had God or Uriah in mind while these events were unfolding? Do you think God loved David less at the end of the chapter?

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Friday, September 25

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, help me to remember that I am here to worship and follow Your son. Give me the strength I need to be the best disciple I can be. Amen.

Read: Romans 3:21-31; Isaiah 55
Reflect:
How has the Lord making sure that His word does not come back to Himself empty? How is righteousness through faith upholding the law? How do God’s gifts help shape our reaction to Him?

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Hymn: “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go”
O Love that will not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in Thee.
I give Thee back the life I owe,
That in Thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

O Light that follow’st all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to Thee.
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in Thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.

O Joy that sleekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to Thee.
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain
That morn shall tearless be.

O cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee.
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.

Closing Prayer: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 2 Cor. 1:3-4

Thursday, September 24

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, help me to remember that I am here to worship and follow Your son. Give me the strength I need to be the best disciple I can be. Amen.

Read: Matthew 20:1-16
Reflect:
How would you feel if you were one of the workers that worked all day? How would you feel if you had only worked for one hour? Is the land owner in the story just?

Prayer: for the church, for others, for myself.

Hymn: “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go”
