Opening Prayer: Almighty God, help me to worship You in light of the grace You have shown me through Your son, in whose name I pray, Amen.

Read: Mark 6:30-44
Reflect:
Why do you think Jesus told the disciples to give the people something to eat? What was the disciples response to this instruction? Has Jesus ever asked you to do something bigger than you were capable of doing? How did you respond?

Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself

Hymn: “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear,
Now to His temple draw near;
Join me in glad adoration!

Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen
How thy desires all have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?

Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee.
Ponder anew
What the almighty can do
If with His love He befriend thee.

Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him!
Let the “amen”
Sound from His people again;
Gladly forever adore Him!

Closing Prayer: Go with me Lord, so I may continue to praise You all day. Amen.

Reflect:
Why do you think the people in Jesus’ hometown could not accept him? What is the importance of Jesus instructing his disciples on what to take as the go on their journey? How do you think they knew what to preach as they went out? What do you think their words were to the people they spoke with?

Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself

Hymn: “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty”
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy- There is none beside Thee
Perfect in power, in love, in purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth, and sky, and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Closing Prayer: Come Lord, and fill your people with your Holy Spirit, that we might obey you, and show your glory to the world around us. Amen.

What reasons does Paul give for praising God? What role does the Holy Spirit play in God’s interaction with His people? How do we experience the Holy Spirit as God’s guarantee?
