Opening Prayer: Almighty God, You have freed me from all that I would be enslaved by. Help me to live in Your freedom. Amen.
Read: Psalm 147
Reflect: How does the Psalmist understand the laws of God? What would change in this psalm if it were written after Jesus’ ministry? How do we ensure that we are living by verse 11’s truth “the Lord’s delight is in those who fear him”?
Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself
Hymn: “Jesus, My Strength, My Hope”
Jesus, my strength, my hope
On Thee I cast my care,
With humble confidence look up,
And know Thou hearest my prayer.
Give me on Thee to wait
Till I can all things do;
On Thee, almighty to create,
Almighty to renew.
I want a godly fear,
A quick discerning eye
That looks to Thee when sin is near
And sees the tempter fly;
A spirit still prepared
And armed with jealous care,
Forever standing on its guard
And watching unto prayer.
I rest upon Thy Word;
The promise is for me:
My comfort and salvation, Lord,
Shall surely come from Thee.
But let me still abide,
Nor from my hope remove,
Till Thou my patient spirit guide
Into Thy perfect love.
Closing Prayer: May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. ~2 Thessalonians 3:5
Opening Prayer: Almighty God, You have freed me from all that I would be enslaved by. Help me to live in Your freedom. Amen.
Read: Colossians 2:20-3:4
Reflect: Does Paul believe his readers have died and risen with Christ? Is this essential to the Christian experience? What does death and resurrection with Christ mean for a person’s morality?
Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, You have freed me from all that I would be enslaved by. Help me to live in Your freedom. Amen.
Read: Galatians 2:17-21
Reflect: How does being crucified with Christ inform Paul’s understanding of God’s grace through Jesus? If the law is not important for Paul, how does he remain moral? How do you experience freedom from the law, and crucifixion with Christ?

Read: 1 Corinthians 8
Reflect: What are the limits of a Christian’s freedom according to this chapter? Why should Christians choose to limit their freedom from time to time? Are there issues in our culture that are similar to this issue of meat offered to idols?
