Opening Prayer: Almighty God, come into my heart today and shape me by Your grace and mercy. Help me to become more like Your Son, in whose Name I pray, Amen.

Read: Ephesians 5:21-6:9 and 1 Peter 3:1-9
Reflect: How should husbands and wives treat one another according to these passages? Do these passages indicate that family should be a hierarchy, or that family members should be equal, or something different? Are these passages applicable to your family, and are they practical in your family?

Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself

Hymn: “All for Jesus”
All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
All my being’s ransomed powers:
All my thoughts and words and doings,
All my days and all my hours.

Let my hands perform His bidding;
Let my feet run in His ways;
Let my eyes see Jesus only;
Let my lips speak forth His praise.

Since my eyes were fixed on Jesus,
I’ve lost sight of all beside-
So enchained my spirit’s vision,
Looking at the Crucified.

O what wonder! How amazing!
Jesus, glorious King of Kings,
Designs to call me His beloved,
Lets me rest beneath His wings.

Closing Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on hearth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bred. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, come into my heart today and shape me by Your grace and mercy. Help me to become more like Your Son, in whose Name I pray, Amen.

Read: John 13:1-17
Reflect: Reread verse 17 and consider how you can do the things that Jesus is instructing his disciples to know? Is it about washing feet, or is it about something more? How do we balance our service with allowing others to serve us?

Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself

Wednesday, November 19

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, come into my heart today and shape me by Your grace and mercy. Help me to become more like Your Son, in whose Name I pray, Amen.

Read: Matthew 20:20-28
Reflect: What motivation does Jesus give to his disciples to submit to one another? How does Jesus’ example inform their submission and service? What are some practical steps you can take to follow Jesus’ instructions on submission and service?

Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself

Tuesday, November 18

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, come into my heart today and shape me by Your grace and mercy. Help me to become more like Your Son, in whose Name I pray, Amen.

Read: Genesis 22:1-19
Reflect: Do you think Abraham is a realistic model of submission and service? How does Abraham demonstrate practical submission? How should Christians understand God’s request for obedience from Abraham in such an extreme way?

Prayer: for the church, for others, and for myself

Monday, November 17

Opening Prayer: Almighty God, come into my heart today and shape me by Your grace and mercy. Help me to become more like Your Son, in whose Name I pray, Amen.

Read: Philippians 2:1-11
Reflect: What stands out to you most about Jesus’ example of humility? In what ways is Jesus’ example impossible for us to follow? In what ways is it possible for us to follow Jesus? How would having the same attitude that was in Jesus change your reaction to the people around you?
